Many job seekers turn to the Internet to widen their search, but online job searching is a virtual minefield of scams. Scammers work hard to appear trustworthy and succeed often enough that they continue to take advantage of people looking for work.

A particularly devious scam is one that involves a payment transfer. Posing as a potential employer, the scammer requests bank account information under the pretense of direct deposit.

The mark is instructed to forward money from their personal bank account, Western Union, or PayPal to another account, often located overseas. The victim is told to keep a tiny percentage of the money as their payment for doing the task. This usually involves the transfer of stolen money and those who fall for it face charges of wire fraud and theft. To mask their activities, scammers usually involve several victims and multiple transfers in the scheme.

Red Flags You Should Never Ignore

You receive an unsolicited job offer from a stranger. Generally the email address is a free account like Gmail or Yahoo, rather than a primary domain name.

An potential employer demands your bank account numbers or social security number.

Job ads that have obvious grammatical errors, misspellings, and unprofessional tone.

A request for you to forward a scanned copy of your drivers license, ID, or social security card.

Common phrases that are clues to deception include: “Foreign Agent Agreement,” wiring funds,” “money transfers,” package-forwarding,” “PayPal,” and “eBay.”

Avoid the Online Job Scam: What NOT to Do

Never provide information about your bank account, credit cards, or PayPal account.

Never agree to transfer, forward, or wire money for an employer, even if you get to keep a percentage for yourself.

Don’t let a potential employer strong-arm you into a direct deposit agreement. If direct deposit is an option, wait until you have the job and are very sure it is legitimate. Telecommuting jobs are most at risk for this ploy.

Some of the most prevalent online scams involve data entry or other work-from-home jobs. The ads are everywhere, promising good money for work that requires few skills or little experience. Clues to bogus job postings include ads riddled with grammatical errors, information that is clearly out of date, websites that include no contact information, help section, or FAQ, or involve hefty fees to upgrade to premium memberships.

Unfortunately, it only takes one unguarded moment to put your identity or your credit in jeopardy. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.

What to Do if You’ve Been Scammed

If your bank account has been compromised, close it immediately. You might even want to change banks altogether to prevent the thieves from trying to reclaim it.

Cancel any email addresses you used in corresponding with the scammers.

Get credit reports from Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax every few months, checking for strange activity. Place fraud alerts on them if your social security number has been compromised.

If the online job scam originated with a job site, report it directly to that job site.

If you’ve participated in payment forwarding, file a police report and contact a local Secret Service field agent.

All fraud complaints should be filed with the FTC at www.ftc.gov.

Marcus Evans is a company which specializes in researching and developing strategic events for the most prominent business executives. It has as many sixty three offices which are spread across the different parts of the globe. The Marcus Evans Company produces more than one thousand event days in one whole year on the strategic issues in technology, corporate finance, transportation, health, telecommunications, business improvement, human resources and capital market. The business knowledge and information which Marcus Evan makes available to its clientele play a significant role in the promotion of their businesses. However there are several Marcus Evans rip off reports which accuse the company of having certain drawbacks.

Protecting Customer Data from Fraud Attacks

Forceful Behavior At Workplace – According to one Marcus Evans rip off report, the company is forcefully increasing its sales by compelling every sales executive working for it by using a false and deceptive urgency story. While misinformation like this does happen to be circulating on the internet, it maybe rest assured that the Marcus Evans Company is committed fully to the core values it has developed. The Marcus Evans Company provides its highly qualified staff with guidance, opportunity and growth which is desired by every employee.

Cheating Clients – Another Marcus Evans rip off report states that the company cheats its clientele. It says that one particular customer had paid a very large amount of money for attending one particular business event but had gained nothing from the event. He was also not paid the salary amount which was due to him. However, while such a severe accusation has been made, it must be remembered that the Marcus Evans Company has a dedicated and extensive Client Management team that manages its relationship with its clients. The Company has been accredited by the Better Business Bureau. This reflects the commitment of the company to render quality service as well as rectify complaints that are made against the company. BBB Code of Business Practices is understood to represent sound selling, advertising as well as customer advice. This has helped to build the trust and the confidence of customers.

Misleading Employees And Buyers – There is one marcus evans rip off report which accuses the company of lying, cheating, harassing, abusive, threatening and even anti semetic behaviour. It says that the workers had the company are paid very less for the amount of work which they are actually made to do. People working for this company; work for as long as forty hours in a week. They are also not properly informed about what kind of work they are supposed to do. In contrast to such complaints and Marcus Evans rip off reports that have been posted on websites, the Marcus Evans Company also has a series of testimonials by staff members who so say they are enjoying unlimited opportunities with Marcus Evans, no matter which area of work they are in. The Better Business Bureau has given the reviews and complaints of Marcus Evans an A+, proving such accusative reports false.

Thus, while there are Marcus Evans rip off reports which indicate that the Marcus Evans Company is full of glitches that need to be looked into urgently, there is plenty of evidence to prove otherwise. Marcus Evans Company has been maintaining the highest standards in customer service and employee management, and will continue to do so.

Thus Marcus Evans is a company which considers the complaints made by its customers to be a valuable asset for its business growth. It regards customer feedback as a good way of gaining customer loyalty.
